Award-winning hairstylist Michael Barnes is renowned for his stunning imagery, which ranges from the sublimely beautiful to the ‘how does he do it’ avant-garde – with everything else in between. His incredible sculptural creations have previously been worn by the likes of Keira Knightley and Lily Cole among others, and this week saw 3 of his avant garde pieces grace the catwalk at Pierre Garroudi’s LFW show. The packed show, held at Arch 6 in London Bridge on Feb 21, featured Garroudi’s signature folded, twisted fabric constructions, while the huge red wigs drew gasps from the likes of Zandra Rhodes in the audience.
Michael was designing showstopping wigs and hairpieces while Lady Gaga was still in nappies – he is one of the hair industry’s favourite stylists. His wigs have included pieces shaped like the Sydney Opera House, butterflies, pillars of smoke and more.
Michael has worked with Britain’s Next Top Model, Marie Claire, Clothes Show Live and many other programmes and shoots and his easy-going nature and creative genius make him a favourite among photographers.
